This week’s winners, losers and surprises.  A small list this week as there weren’t many releases.

Bandcamper of the Day: Spellcaster

While not a new band, the guys have decided to go it on their own since the buyout of Heavy Artillery Records by Earache.  Portland, OR traditional metal masters Spellcaster have returned with their sophomore self-titled release in a limited edition numbered (only 100 made) CD and digital download.  The band hearkens back to early Iron Maiden and Judas Priest while keep one foot in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal.  A nice niche to straddle and definitely worth a listen.  Download is on $7 with the CD being $10.  Horns Up!
