I come into this album with high hopes.  Why, I’m not really sure.  I’ve listened to and enjoyed the band previously, but they never really clicked for me.  Maybe this time around I was enticed by the Aborted’s former drummer joining Carcass and that alone made my mouth water.  In the end I got what I should have been expecting: Carcass Jr.

From the beginning the album should have sent off alarms – track one is a horror movie sample.  I thought that went out when Ministry stopped using drills as instruments back in the 90s.  As the album goes on, so do the samples.  Yeah, I get that it’s funny when you use a movie sample that ends with your band’s name, but salting the album with lifted lines makes a pointless expression.  The drumming on the album seems a little too go to be true as well.  After recently watching Misha Mansoor of Periphery give a tutorial on how quick and easy it is to create drum tracks on the computer, my attention to this detail was heightened.  For me, blast beats should be used for emphasis, not jet propulsion for an entire song.  Machine gunning might seem extreme, but full songs of said drumming become tedious marathons.
