In this new weekly column here at Brain Trust we’re going to highlight the weeks top 10 pirated heavy metal albums for the week.  While not 100% accurate, it does paint a fairly potent picture of what nefarious heavy metal fans are downloading by less than legal means.  Here is the list:

The Swedes in Wolf attack with full force in an apparent effort to top the Teutonic terror that is Accept. The guitars are exceptional when riffing, but any other guitar work is uninspired and downright boring. The biggest problem, however, is the vocals don’t hold up to the riffs and the rhythm section gets completely lost in the battle between guitarist and singer. All that being said, the album isn’t a complete waste of time, but it would have worked better as an EP.

Album Review: Accept – Blind Rage

If you go to Accept’s website it lists 3 bands as being responsible for the New Wave of British Heavy Metal: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Accept.  Accept?  Really?  I was under the impression Germany was located thousands of miles from the UK, so revisionist history and all, whatever.  While I never considered them a member of the NWOBHM, I also never considered them a thrash band, which is a prominent style on their new release.  And that’s not a bad thing, it’s nice when bands switch up their style and incorporate new sounds and techniques.  In the case of Accept, it couldn’t have worked better.

Accept have posted the single, Stampede, from their forthcoming album Blind Rage. The album comes out on Nuclear Blast on August 19th in the US, August 18th in the UK, and August 15th in Europe. The album can be pre-ordered in multiple formats here.  Track listing below.
